How to clean cast iron furnace frame?

Many people do not consider cleaning the gas stove rack as their main task when cleaning the kitchen.

Many people do not consider cleaning the gas stove rack as their main task when cleaning the kitchen. But the soup, oil, and food residue spilled during cooking will eventually form a thick layer of shell on the stove rack, which will require you to spend a lot of time cleaning up. Below are several effective cleaning methods that can be used alone or in combination, making it easier for you to clean the furnace frame.
1、 Use degreaser
1. Spray degreaser
Spray a sufficient amount of degreaser onto the furnace frame and immerse it in the degreaser. Note that you need to spray a large amount of degreaser to ensure that the furnace frame does not dry during the soaking process. The moist appearance indicates that the degreaser has completely covered the accumulated dirt and will then seep into it, starting to take effect.
2. Waiting for the degreaser to take effect
Patiently wait for the degreaser to take effect. After spraying the degreaser, let the furnace stand sit for 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the severity of the sticky dirt. During the waiting process, check from time to time whether the furnace frame is still wet. If the furnace frame starts to dry, spray some degreaser and continue waiting until 30 minutes are over.
3. Brushing off dirt and grime
Use a suitable cleaning tool to brush off the dirt on the stove frame. Although cast iron appears to be very sturdy and can be cleaned with steel wool, you still use a soft sponge to completely clean the furnace frame. You may need to put in more effort, but the sponge won't leave unsightly scratches on the surface of the stove frame.
2、 Clean the furnace frame with ammonia gas
1. Measure the dimensions of the furnace frame
The size of the stove frame varies, and you need to know the size of the stove frame at home to determine the size of the bag. Perhaps all furnace racks can be put into one bag. If you plan to clean the stove separately, find a few large sealed fresh-keeping bags. If you plan to clean all the stoves together, you need to find a large, tightly sealed garbage bag.
2. Handle the ammonia solution properly
Pour ammonia water into the bag and seal the bag tightly to prevent smoke from escaping. Cleaning the furnace frame does not rely on soaking in liquid ammonia, but on the accumulation of ammonia smoke slowly acting on the dirt, causing it to detach from the furnace frame. It only takes 3 hours for ammonia gas to fully exert its effect, but it is recommended to let the furnace stand stand for the whole night. If cleaning separately, pour 60 milliliters of ammonia water into each sealed fresh-keeping bag. If you put several furnace racks in a large garbage bag, pour 470 milliliters of ammonia water into the bag.
3. Rinse the furnace frame with warm water
Take out the stove frame and rinse it with warm water. Ammonia can be said to be a very effective and widely used cleaning agent. Warm water can wash away most of the dirt, but there may still be small residual dirt on the stove frame. You can use your fingers or sponge to wipe off the dirt.
3、 Baking soda overlay method
1. Rinse the cast iron furnace frame with warm water
A simple rinse can remove the easily removable dirt on the surface, so that baking soda can directly act on the stubborn dirt on the lower layer
2. Blended Baking Soda
Mix baking soda and water into a thick paste. You can also use vinegar instead of water to create a deeper cleaning agent with stronger cleaning power. The cleaning paste must be thick enough to adhere to the furnace frame.
3. Baking soda paste wrapped cast iron furnace frame
Wrap the surface of the stove rack with baking soda paste and wait for an hour. This alkaline mixture can penetrate into dirt and corrode it. At this moment, you will see a scene that you often see in chemistry experiments at school: baking soda begins to bubble and react with acidic oil stains.
4. Wipe off dirt
Wipe off the accumulated dirt with a soft sponge, and then rinse thoroughly with water. This method should be effective in one go. If you find that oil or dirt is particularly difficult to remove, repeat the same method again.
4、 Spray cast iron furnace frame with vinegar solution
1. Make vinegar water cleaning solution
Mix vinegar and water to make a cleaning solution. For ease of use, pour the vinegar solution into the spray bottle. The acid in vinegar helps to break down the dirt on the stove frame. If you feel that degreasing agents and ammonia gas cleaning methods are not environmentally friendly enough and can affect human health, this method is naturally harmless. This method is very suitable for daily maintenance of the furnace frame and removal of minor oil stains.
2. Spray vinegar solution
Spray the vinegar solution onto the furnace rack and wait for at least 15 minutes. Vinegar is a more natural cleaning agent, so soaking time must be long enough to ensure that vinegar penetrates thick oil stains.
3. Clean thoroughly
Wipe the cast iron furnace frame with a sponge and rinse it clean with water. You will find that with just a slight wipe, the remaining dirt on the stove frame will be wiped off. If there is still a small amount of dirt on the furnace frame after flushing, repeat the above process. Toothbrushes can easily reach into the gaps and corners of the stove frame to clean dirt.
